Michael Pineda is close to returning.
According to KFFL:
" Michael Pineda (shoulder) will pitch two innings in an extended spring training game Tuesday... If all goes well, he could begin a minor league rehab assignment or
pitch in another extended spring training game. Pineda threw 28 pitches
of live batting practice Saturday, May 24, at the Yankees' spring
training facility in Tampa, Fla."
According to MLB's Bryan Hoch, "Girardi said that he believes Pineda would probably throw in one more
extended spring game if Tuesday's outing goes well, bumping up to three
innings, and then could be cleared for Minor League rehab starts.
'I think when you start to see him throwing three and four innings,
and bouncing back, you know that he's getting fairly close,' Girardi
said."
I'm happy to read this. Let's just hope the guy does it legit this time and doesn't screw up the Yankees rotation again. Bottom line is he was part of the problem and when CC Sabathia and Ivan Nova went down, the last thing we needed was Pineda to disappear.
Good reports and I look forward to seeing Pineda back!
