AROD'S "RESTRICTED", NOT SUSPENDED
It's clever... and it softens the blow. If you were to wander onto the Yankees.com website and click over to the 40 man roster, you will notice that Alex Rodriguez is not suspended at all... he's restricted.
I like that. It softens the blow because of course, the Yankees are a multi-million dollar franchise. Like Disney, they don't want the negative publicity and so, it's smart to say, "Hey, ARod is just restricted, but he'll be back. You wait and see!" That's just in case there are still ARod fans out there.
Now, I know for a fact that the Yankees are just sick of Alex Rodriguez, and over time, be it their season tickets or otherwise, he has slowly vanished from the visuals of what the Yankees are all about, their history included.
You remember my son threw his baseball card out when the Biogenesis mess happened. That card is now long gone. Read PEDs HAVE DESTROYED THIS GREAT GAME OF BASEBALL for more.
For now, the Yankees are riding out his contract, and if he can be "restricted", it just doesn't seem as bad. Sure, in my world, what they should do is shame these players and write on their baseball card, "SUSPENDED FOR THE 2014 SEASON FOR PEDs", but they won't. In this regard, they are curbing the chaos and they'll just deal with him when he gets back in 2014.
In the meantime... this fan blew it with the body paint, huh?
God, I hope that's permanent... that would be hilarious.
