GUESS WHAT'S ABOUT TO HAPPEN TO MARIANO RIVERA?

Despite the outcome for the Yankees this season, we have been lucky as fans to watch Mariano Rivera during his farewell to baseball tour. As he visited each ball park, and was honored by each team, you really understood just what he meant to the sport.

Tonight, before Game 2 of the World Series, Mo will once again be honored. Bud Selig will be presenting him with the Commissioner's Historic Achievement Award, and Mo will be honored on the field as part of the pre-game ceremonies. The award was created to recognize contributions of historical significance in the MLB. Mo's career as a whole has played a historical role in baseball. The all-times save leader spent 19 years in pinstripes, appeared in 1,115 games, had a 2.21 ERA, and 652 career saves. Ken Griffey Jr was the last person to receive this award in 2011.

Mo was also honored on Monday at MetLife stadium by the New York Giants. Before kick-off, a Mo highlight video was played, and Mo trotted out through the end-zone tunnels to "Enter Sandman." A sign that he is not only admired by baseball, but sports professionals across the board.

I don't think there are enough words to express the gratitude that we as Yankees fans feel towards Mo. He has been the shining example of what we except from Yankees. Humble even through all his achievements. He is the role model that every young man looking to pursue a career in sports should attempt to exemplify. And this award that he will receive tonight is just further proof of how incredibly honored we are, not just as Yankees fans, but as baseball fans to have been able to witness his career.
