PINEDA POWER!
Guess where Michael Pineda goes next? According to Drew Silva at Hardball Talk HERE, "has a 2.82 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 22/10 K/BB ratio in 22 1/3 innings since he was cleared last month to begin a minor league rehab assignment."
So that being said, the Yanks are now sending him to AAA, that's Scranton Wilkes-Barre to you and me. Andy McCullough of the Star Ledger says HERE, "Pineda appears likely to be optioned here (Scranton) once his rehab assignment ends. He allowed two runs, both in the first inning. He also committed a fielding error in the second, looking sluggish on a comebacker toward the mound."
The Yankees are being cautiously optimistic. They want to make sure their injured are 100% when they return. We were burned with Mark Teixeira, Kevin Youkilis and Pineda's been out too long to just throw into the major leagues... baby steps. If the Yankees can continue winning another few weeks, Pineda will be back and probably back at 100%... look for it.
I'm excited about this.
