Don't get overly excited... remember, Francisco Cervelli has a broken hand, it's going to take time. Anthony McCarron tweeted this about Cisco HERE:
Just assume the dude's not coming back in 6 weeks. Make it 8, or, make it 9. Right now the Yankees have Chris Stewart and yes, while Austin Romine really isn't playing, they have him as a backup. Yeah sure, it's not ideal because these guys aren't lighting it up at the plate, but it's ironic that we are longing for Cervelli to get back so quickly, isn't it?
I mean, for all you anti-Cervelli guys out there... How many of you were ripping the guy as not being a good hitting catcher? Now you "can't wait" for Cervelli to return? You gotta love baseball fans.
Whatever the case, the catching situation seems like our weakest link right now and it's ironic because the Yanks seemed to had stockpiled and groomed catchers for a while now. Will the Yanks go out and get a loaner like we did with Chris Nelson at 3rd base? Who the hell knows. Just know this... it takes time when you have a broken hand. We just need to wait it out until Cervelli returns.
