Remember late last night when we shared with you the link from George King III of the New York Post about the Texas Rangers sending out a scout to check out Joba Chamberlain at a Yankee game? Read JOBA'S MUSTACHE COULD FLOURISH IN TEXAS for info on that, but in a nutshell, we simply lifted this quote from King's (HERE) piece:
"Don Welke, a senior special assistant to Texas general manager
Jon Daniels, was at Steinbrenner Field on Monday specifically to watch
Chamberlain pitch an inning against St. Louis."
Now, according to MLBTradeRumors.com's Ben Nicholson-Smith, HERE, "Both Boston and New York had their own scouts watching the Rangers play today."
What do you make of this? Could it be that the Yankees are really trying to make a deal with the Rangers to ship Joba out? Is it because of those silly comments about being a "starter or closer?" Is it the mustache?
Stay tuned....
