IF RAPADA IS HURT, IS NUNO IN?

Andy McCullough of the Star Ledger writes HERE that Clay Rapada, one of our lefties in the pen will likely start the season on the disabled list.  He writes:

"Manager Joe Girardi said 'my guess' is lefty reliever Clay Rapada would start the season on the disabled list. Rapada has been sidelined with shoulder bursitis. He was scheduled to throw a light bullpen today. His injury opens the door for players like Cody Eppley or Shawn Kelley looking to grab a spot on the roster. "
So, logically, we here at Bleeding Yankee Blue believe that if the Yankees want to stick to 2 lefties in the pen, why not throw in a kid who's been doing a great job for us this Spring... Vidal Nuno?

We wrote a piece about him the other day titled VIDAL NUNO COULD BE THAT NEW YANKEE LEFTY. To us, he'd be a perfect replacement, even just temporarily.

Now, I will tell you this... I received a note from a Yankee broadcaster the other day when we released that piece above and he had a position on this as well.  I'm not revealing his name because it was private note, but he told me his opinion, which I appreciate, writing: "He (Nuno) should begin the year at Trenton. Keep an eye on him. He could move quickly. Particularly if Rapada has continued arm problems."

This is a guy that knows the game better than anyone, so that opinion is one you need to keep an eye on, he's probably correct.

Things are starting to happen in Yankeeland. Games will soon matter, Chien-Ming Wang is back, read HERE. I've given my official blessing to Eduardo Nunez (Read THE LEADER THAT CAN BE EDUARDO NUNEZ), if in fact he is the starting shortstop on opening day, and the Yankee rotation is starting to come together.... it's a sign of spring.  Now, if we can only get the weather right in the Northeast... it's still way too cold!

Enjoy your Saturday.
