MARK TEIXEIRA: REVIEWING OUR PROJECTIONS

  • Projected: .283 Avg, 37 Hrs, 116 RBI
  • 2011: .248 Avg, 39 Hrs, 111 RBI
Well, we were off on the average part, but we're right on the money with the power numbers. Over the last two seasons Teixeira has a .252 average after hitting .290 the previous seven seasons. It seems as though Teixeira has become very short porch happy since joining the Yankees, you can call it "Jason Giambi Syndrome". It seems like he's just trying to just pull the ball from the left side of the plate, sure he's always been a pull hitter, but he's taking this to the extreme. His power numbers are the same, but I'd like to see him hit for a better average. Also, one of the reasons why Teixeira is now hitting in the number five spot in the Yankees lineup is probably because of that low batting average and that he's pull happy.
