THUMBS UP FOR ICHIRO & CERVELLI. THUMBS DOWN FOR ROLLINS.

You gotta love Yankee fans.  I was going through the comments for some of the stories we put up this week.  I'll tell you, the social networks are all the buzz and I love it. Thanks for being so engaged.

We posted a story about Ichiro this week. It was titled, "ICHIRO TO THE TIGERS" ... WE NEED TO STOP ALREADY.

Now look; It's no secret that I love Ichiro Suzuki. I love the way he approaches the game, his "team player" attitude and how he comes to play, regardless of the "full time" or "part time" position he would be asked to play.  He can lead off, he can bat 9th and he'll come off the bench if you need him.  He's still a dynamic outfielder, and I could care less what the "numbers" say... I'd pick him for my outfield any day of the week...even at 40.  He's athletic, energetic and still a damn good ballplayer.  Remember when I predicted Ichiro would be coming to New York? Read ICHIRO IN PINSTRIPES? ANYTHING'S POSSIBLE. That was in June 2012. He came to the Yankees in July... You're Welcome.

This was the overwhelming answer on Facebook and Twitter when asked if Ichiro should stay as the 5th outfielder, or go:

THUMBS UP!

Francisco Cervelli is full of energy and pushed himself last year, before he got hurt and was exposed for being involved in the Biogenesis scandal.

He really blew it with that, and I hammered him really badly in  FRANCISCO CERVELLI'S GOT SOME SPLAINING TO DO writing "... Cervelli walked out with nothing, yet, he "purchased supplements" that he was certain were NOT prohibited by Major League Baseball.  Yet, not one person in the press challenged him on this? Clearly he's not telling the truth here..."  He later admitted to it, apologized, took his lumps and realized he blew it.

Now he'll be the back up for Brian McCann and probably for a while now, unless he gets traded, which seems to be the rumor of the week.  When we wrote CERVELLI WANTED & CERVELLI MAY BE TRADED, there was an outpouring of support for the guy. I wanted to share some:

THUMBS UP!

Then came a great piece by Suzie Pinstripe about Jimmy Rollins, the turmoil with Phillies Manager Ryne Sandberg and whether or not Jimmy Rollins is a fit in New York.

Don't yell at us... we were just asking! Read COULD JIMMY ROLLINS BE A YANKEE?

Well, people in New York don't like Jimmy Rollins, even though we have reported extensively about our second base "hole", even though we already have Brian Roberts.  It was clear reading the comments that the Yankees choice of Roberts works better for them, than the "lazy" Rollins as they say:

THUMBS DOWN!

Wow. Look, the Yankees look like they actually have a competitive club this season. It's exciting.  I love the idea of Ichiro as our 5th outfielder, especially if he has no beef being there.  I love the idea of keeping Cervelli around, but if the right deal comes up, like a set-up man for David Robertson, or a better 3rd base option than what we have, I'm OK with trading him away... it's business. I also agree with the majority of the comments referring to Rollins, not because he's "lazy" but because I just don't think we need him.

Social Networks are great aren't they? Instant comments, alot of love and support for our team and hey... you gotta love that.
