TRADE RUMORS AROUND YANKEELAND

There are a few things happening, a few names surfacing and alittle excitement is happening around the Yankees organization as we start the second half.  Check out some of these names and the rumors attached to them…and Happy Sunday.
Justin Upton: This guy is a talented outfielder with a lot of offer.  Recently the Pittsburgh Pirates have been attached to Upton, and don’t be surprised if they go full throttle to get him, they are contenders this year. That is coming from Jayson Stark of ESPN. Read Stark's Tweet HERE.  It's also being reported that the Oakland Athletics are a team in for Upton. That's coming from Ken Rosenthal, HERE. One thing to keep in mind, Rosenthal doesn't always get it right, sometimes I feel like he's more in the business to be provocative than correct. That being said, that's not a shot, it's just the reality of trade rumors.  No one knows.   The Yankees are rumored to be on the list as well. Don’t forget the Yankees kicked the tires on Upton last season but nothing came about and then we ran our poll over the winter asking simply Which Hitter would you Trade for? 60 of you chose Justin Upton.  Read WHY YOU WANT JUSTIN UPTON IN A TRADE. The good news about this rumor is, BYB read usually get it right.

Cole Hamels: Don’t be shocked if the Phillies end up negotiating a contract extension with Hamels and this rumor all goes away. According to Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com, that’s happening...read HERE.  At this point, sure Hamels could always not come to an agreement with the Phils and they end up trying to unload him by the trade deadline, but I don’t see the Yankees really involved in any talks with the Phillies over this…Hamels is a lot of money.  Don’t forget, Cashman’s goal is to also sign Curtis Granderson and Robinson Cano.  Read WHY THE YANKEES HAVE A DILEMMA WITH CANO & GRANDERSON. Stay tuned…

Matt Garza: The Yankees like him the best according to sources, but the Toronto Blue Jays are focused on improving their starting rotation, according to Jack Moore at CBS Sports…read HERE. I believe that Garza is definitely an option for the Yanks, he a solid pitcher that isn’t over expensive trade-wise and definitely a competitor with experience in the American League East.  Read BYB’s piece on Garza titled THE MATT GARZA RUMOR THAT WON'T GO AWAY.

Francisco Liriano: Liriano’s had an OK season and once again the Twins have not, being in last place and all. Every year around this time Liriano surfaces as a potential starter for the Yankees.  Sooner or later I feel like it’s going to happen.  We’ve written about Liriano  this season already, check out WHY IT MAY BE A GOOD TIME TO GET LIRIANO . Truth be told, it’s been rumored that the Blue Jays are looking at Liriano as well.
