SABATHIA WILL FIGHT WITH DECK STACKED AGAINST HIM

Winners never quit. Quitters never win.  CC Sabathia will take the mound in a matter of hours, and it's the start of a season unknown for CC. But CC's a winner, so let's hope his hard work helps him fall into favor this season. I'm in his corner.

The Daily News had a good piece about Sabathia and I wanted to share some of it with you:

“'I’m excited,' Sabathia said. 'It’s always fun, the first one. Hopefully it’s a good one.'... Sabathia used to be the workhorse of any rotation he led, but the days of asking the former Cy Young winner to go eight or nine innings is over.

'Go out and give us five or six good innings; kind of what we’re asking our starters to do that first time through,' Joe Girardi said when asked what his expectations are for Saturday. The Yankees haven’t had a starter last six complete innings through the first four games, with three of them going five innings and Masahiro Tanaka lasting 5.2 frames."

And with Sabathia on the mound, it will not be any different.  Sabathia needs to just get to the 5th.  He needs to show he can get there and that he can hold the Tigers.  If he can, it gives him more life for  the next outing. Not only that, it gives him confidence.  If he doesn't, he will be under a microscope every single outing after this one. He doesn't want to lose his starting rotation role. It's a brutal time for him.

Many will bet against him... I will not.
