There's plenty of baseball left. Plenty of time. Somehow, that's not making me any less annoyed by yet another loss.
CC Sabathia was the starting pitcher for the Yankees today. He has a 5.23 ERA this season. Though the Yankees lost this one, he performed fairly well. In 6 innings, he managed to only give up 2 earned runs. It really was a quality start.
Our bats were, once again asleep. Despite Brian McCann's solo shot in the second, the Yankees were unable to produce any more runs. In 29 at bats, they only got 4 hits. Regardless of how well CC did, it's difficult for any pitcher to win games if the bats are dead. And right now, I'm thinking we need a funeral procession down River Ave.
This losing streak is frustrating. With the Blue Jays winning their 10th straight and taking first place from us, it's hard not to want to throw something at the tv every time the Yankees lose. It seems no matter how much I remind myself that there's plenty of baseball left, I really just want to throw some smelling salts at this team. Our bats need to wake up. This slump I could ignore early in the season. But half easy through August, it just makes me angry.
