YANKEES MEET WITH AROD

After initially turning down Alex Rodriguez's offer for a mea culpa meeting, the Yankees have finally met with ARod. They released a short statement about it (HERE).

"Today we had a meeting at Yankee Stadium between Hal Steinbrenner, Randy Levine, Brian Cashman, Jean Afterman, Alex Rodriguez and Jim Sharp. Alex initiated the meeting and apologized to the organization for his actions over the past several years.

"There was an honest and frank discussion on all of the issues. As far as the Yankees are concerned, the next step is to play baseball in spring training."

Short and to the point. I recently criticized the Yankees after rejecting the meeting with ARod. I wrote: "The organization deciding against to meeting only leads to more media frenzy behind ARod's return. And that is the last thing anyone wants. Instead of the focus being on whether or not he can produce hits and runs, it will be about his interaction with the organization."

This meeting is the organizations way of realizing that it is better to have a single focus. I'm glad this is behind them. The only thing left to do now is to play some baseball.
