AROD STRIKES BACK!

As day 4 of the Alex Rodriguez hearings rolled out, ARod's legal team finally had a chance to cross examine Anthony Bosch. Bosch, who was the owner of the now shattered Biogenesis clinic in Florida, has been on the stand since Monday.

ARod's legal team will be working mount an attack on Bosch's credibility. They will attempt to paint him as a drug dealer, and a liar. Bosch is also the target of a federal, and state investigation. He has spent much of the week validating information that would connect ARod to the clinic. You can read about that HERE.

There is still no information on whether or not ARod will take the stand. Though it seems unlikely. If he does testify, he can face a bigger investigation. In an article in the New York News Day (HERE) Attorney Stanley Brand said "That testimony would be fully available o the government if it is determined that it was relevant to the commission of federal crimes involving controlled substances."If he chooses not to testify, the MLB cannot penalize him.

The Hispanics Across America group is still protesting and will be out there on Friday as well. HAA President, Fernando Mateo said "We are not here to say A-Rod is an alter boy. We are here to say he should be treated fairly. He should have been given a 50-game suspension like the other players. If he is guilty, he should be punished accordingly."

Okay, it's hard to argue with that. Personal feelings aside, Bud Selig was harsh in giving ARod a 211 game suspension considering that he is technically a first time offender, and has not tested positive for the time he is currently being accused of. I can understand why the HAA feels like ARod is being targeted. Frankly, I think if it were any player but ARod facing this 211 game suspension, people would be outraged by the unfairness of it. I am not saying he is a victim because if he is guilty, he should be punished. But where in the CBA does it say that a first time offender gets a 211 game suspension?

Remember this case is about the fairness of the 211 game suspension. Friday will wrap up the first week of the hearings. No further dates have been announced. Arbitrator Fredric Horowitz will have 25 days from the end of the hearing to decide to uphold, overturn, or alter the suspension.

BYB will continue bringing you the information on the hearings as it is released.
