Wednesday was day three of the famed ARod hearings. We all know he is currently fighting that 211 game suspension. Of course the news that came out couldn't be something normal. It has to be something so outlandish, that you can't help but chuckle.
According to a source, ARod is now claiming that the products he thought he received from the Biogenesis clinic were "innocent legal substances." This is contradictory to everything Anthony Bosch has told the MLB thus far. Bosch, who has been on the stand the last few days, has been cooperating with the MLB. He has been spending his time validating Biogenesis documents, as well as text messages, and emails sent back and forth between himself, and ARod. You can read all about that HERE, but basically ARod is emulating past athletes. Didn't Barry Bonds swear he thought the creams he was using were legal too? ARod's legal has not yet been able to cross examine Bosch. One can guess that their plan of action is to destroy his credibility. The question is, how successful will they be?
Ultimately, the point of this case is to see if the 211 game ban is fair. Technically, ARod would be considered a first time offender, with no positive test results during the time he is currently being accused of. Arbitrator Fredric Horowitz will have 25 days from the conclusion of the hearings to uphold, over turn, or alter the suspension. So far, the only comments ARod has on the hearings is "It went good."
Now for some comedy, because with ARod, there always seems to be a circus. It is being reported that a protester tweeted earlier that he was being paid, and that breakfast, and lunch would be provided for him. Of course the media jumped all over that one. Well it turns out that he was not in fact being paid. Apparently a friend of his used that to lure the poor fellow out to the protest. Admit it, many of you were laughing at this.
We're sure to hear much more about this, as the case continues. Like my friend, Lisa Bernikowicz told me "I don't know why I am even surprised anymore, but just when you think he has said something boneheaded, he tops it. I get an ESPN alert on my phone almost every hour because of him. It's only Wednesday!"
Sorry, Lisa! Sorry, Yankees fans! But this is what we are dealing with right now. BYB will bring you more information as it surfaces.
