I feel as though the next series against the Boston Red Sox
will be an important moment for the Yankees and the rest of their season. There are many factors that need to fall into
place but it also can be a significant series, for fan comfort and for team
confidence.
Look, the Red Sox stink right now, even they’ll tell you
that. But one thing you can never do, and I never have….is forget about
the Red Sox. Sure, we’re Yankee fans, we’ve already drew our lines in the sand,
but those Red Sox have weird things happen and who knows, maybe they can make a
run. I'm always looking over my shoulder. That being said, I expect the
Yankees to make a huge run but it needs to start in this series..this weekend!
The best part about the Red Sox right now is
everything they do is a distraction. Ever since the "Chicken and
Beer" scandal, there has been instability and disruptions, and Bobby Valentine is leading the charge. Plus, who the hell died and made Josh Beckett
boss? What kind of balls does this guy have walking away from the press after
his loss the other night? Read about it HERE. Look, my take on athletes is simple...Your job as a ballplayer is to do your best, and if
you stink up the joint, you grab the microphone and tell the fans that pay your
salary why you sucked. It’s that
simple. It’s not about Josh Beckett’s
feelings, it’s about his duty to the fans.
Pathetic and if I'm Red Sox Nation, I'm calling for Beckett's head. What an embarrassment, he representing that team.
Can you imagine if Derek Jeter ducked the press? It would be
the Bronx Zoo all over again. Guess
what, that’s never happening and that’s what makes being a Yankee fan a good
thing sometimes…loyalty, dedication and the appreciation of the fans. Jeet’s said it when the Yankees lose… “Who’s
going to feel sorry for us…no one.” The point is significant because the
reality is, the fans just want wins, not losses. He knows that and that’s why after a game,
they take the time, win or lose, to give a few soundbites to the press...to the fans…then they go home.
Look, the best thing the Yankees can do right now is come
out of Seattle and into the Bronx with a new attitude. We won the series in Seattle, now we’re home, we have Ichrio Suzuki and we’re
about the make a run…we can do this! The best way to do it? Beat the Boston Red
Sox and I don’t mean beat them, I mean pulverize them. This way, we set the tone and
instead of these inconsistent streaks, and these wins and then losses, this ebb and
flow… we instead just flow, flow and flow.
This is it Ladies and Gentlemen, August is just about here
and that’s when teams really kick it into high gear after trades have been made and new
blood joins contending teams. It’s right around August that teams make their runs.
And I’m telling you, the Yankees will make their run for sure. I don’t know it, I feel it.
