GOOD NEWS FOR GARDNER, BAD NEWS FOR PHELPS

Marc Carig of the Star Ledger was the guy whom I read this news first. Brett Gardner's visit to Dr. Tim Kremcheck was positive, meaning, he agreed with the first opinion coming from Dr. James Andrews that what Brett Gardner has is an elbow strain, or joint inflammation.

Carig says that Brett was injected with a PRP injection today. He also received a cortisone shot, according to the Yankees. The timetable for return will be 3 to 4 weeks. According to Carig's Tweet: "Docs find that elbow injury simply hadn't healed."

OK, so in a nutshell, Brett Gardner is on the mend again, but we know what it is and it will be treated as such. Hopefully this is the end of this mess in the next 4 weeks or so and Gardner will be back in the New York Yankees lineup and all will be right in the world.Another piece of information you need to know. With David Robertson coming back, someone had to be moved out and there was wide speculation that Freddy Garcia was the guy to go, perhaps cut or perhaps moved down to AAA. It wasn't Garcia, it was David Phelps and he's going down to Class A, he's going to get stretched out and then he's going to AAA.

Look, I like David Phelps a lot, but this is not a bad thing. Much like when Ivan Nova went down as a kid to AAA last year and came back to the Bigs a man, I suspect the Yankees are banking for similar results. They probably just want to tweak a few things...the kid's young, it will be fine.
