MORE MO, LESS PROBLEMS

(Photo: Frank Franklin II/Associated Press)
Mariano Rivera is old. Yes, we know that, but he’s still so damn good. Yes, the other night he blew a game for the Mets, but what are you going to do, it happens sometimes. I just got finished WHY MARIANO IS A MACHINE 1 day before that blown game happened. Hey, that’s baseball, move on.

My point of this post though is to come to the realization that with age comes more aches and pains. The All-Star has what appears to be soreness in his right triceps, so, while it's bothering him, he's still a gamer. He has said he would pitch if needed in the Tampa series but will take time off and not pitch in the All-Star game. While it's disappointing for me, it's good; He can recover from the injury and be ready for his final push. That All-Star break will be good for Mo, rest will be good.

Should we be worried about Mo? No we shouldn't. Look, the best case scenario is Girardi will use Mo minimally in the Tampa series. Plus, we have DRob in the pen to hold things down if we need to, even in that closing role. Hell, I know RaSo is signed for a few more years and most likely will take the closing role after Mo walks off into the sunset, but let’s be frank about this, “Hey, RaSo, what have you done for me lately?”

DRob earned his pinstripes and you can sit there and tell me that Soriano is injured and it’s unfair to attack him. I will tell you that bad luck unfortunately is also a factor in baseball and if you don’t play, you don’t get the spot. DRob’s not only playing, he’s thriving and over time, that spot should be his.

But let's not get crazy...one step at a time. Mariano will be back and there is no worries Ladies and Gentlemen, You just need to sit back and watch and love our bullpen that Brian Cashmn has assembled, minus the RaSo signing. After all, he was against it, remember? It’s funny how things play out.
