PAUL GOLDSCHMIDT WANTED TO BE A YANKEE OVER OTHER TEAMS

It's nice that Paul Goldschmidt is bringing his big bat to the Bronx. What's cooler is this little nugget. Turns out Goldy wanted to become a Yankee. It’s not every day a top-tier player like him chooses your team over others, and we’re absolutely here for it.

Let’s keep it real: we don’t have a clue how this season will shake out for Goldschmidt. He could light up the scoreboard, or it could be a season we all quietly move past. But that’s the beauty of a one-year contract—it’s a smart, low-risk move for both sides. If it works, we celebrate. If not, no harm done, and we both move on. Simple as that.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Yankees weren’t the only ones vying for Goldy’s talents. The Washington Nationals, Cleveland Guardians, and Arizona Diamondbacks were all in the race. And get this—some of them were waving bigger checks than the Yankees. Yet, Goldschmidt said, "Thanks, but I’m heading to New York." Now that is what we love to hear!

Turning down bigger money to wear the Yankees' pinstripes shows Goldschmidt’s heart is in the right place. Maybe it’s the allure of Yankee Stadium, us passionate fans, or the rich history of the team. Whatever it is, his choice to join us is a huge morale boost, especially after we lost Juan Soto earlier this offseason under personal circumstances. The fact that Soto signed with the Mets is a blessing for us though... trust me.

So, let's give Goldy the warmest welcome and cross our fingers for some fireworks at the plate. He’s here because he wants to be, and that’s a win already.
