There's nothing better than playing against the team you used to play for and dominate! Alex Verdugo went huge last night against the Red Sox and the Yanks won 8-1.
Verdugo was 3-5 with 4 RBIs. The Sporting News writes:
"... even if the Red Sox's pitching staff was fine, they were unable to do anything offensively. They struck out 14 times while recording just five total hits (nobody had multiple). Their lone run game came from an Enmanuel Valdez RBI double in the fourth inning."CBS Sports writes:
"According to the YES Network broadcast, Verdugo is the second player to go deep in his first at-bat as a visiting player at Fenway Park after having 2,000 plate appearances with the Red Sox. The first was Ellis Burks. He did it in 1993 with the Chicago White Sox.
Verdugo drove in another run in the fifth inning with an opposite field double off the base of the Green Monster. He picked up his third hit, an RBI single, in the ninth inning."
All in all, the Yankees were dominant, but Verdugo came to destroy his former team. I don't care what anyone says, Verdugo is the energy the Yankees need... the Swisher of this team all these years later. It's awesome!
Yanks beat Sox 8-1. Keep going boys!
