IT'S NOT PLAYOFF BASEBALL YET, NEW YORK!

The ridiculous walk off at the Stadium on Friday night was just that—ridiculous. There is no reason why the Yankees, who went on a 13-game win streak tear in the middle of August went into 11 innings against a team that is 43 games back in the American League East. But, alas, here we go again with this Yankee team, celebrating like it's playoff baseball in a walk off win against the Baltimore Orioles.

In case you missed it..."After New York scuffled for nine innings against the league’s weakest pitching staff, DJ LeMahieu stroked a game-tying hit in the 10th inning and Giancarlo Stanton delivered the deciding RBI single in the 11th, lifting the Bombers to a 4-3 victory over the Orioles on Friday evening at Yankee Stadium," reported MLB.com.

The Orioles were too close for comfort in Friday night's game and I really can't explain why. I guess history is my only answer. The Yankees are 9-5 against the O's this season, which is just unfathomable. No part of this Oriole team should be threatening to the Yankees. But, here we are, taxing our bullpen, and having to breakdown doors to win against the cellar dwelling team.

I wholeheartedly agree with Joel Sherman of the New York Post who bluntly stated, "The Yankees must sweep the Orioles this weekend — then do it again in Baltimore next week. They have to throw up a 6-0 against the Orioles to rekindle any long-shot AL East title chances, but — more pertinent to their reality — to begin to create separation for the top Wild Card spot and assure a) playing the one-game wild card in The Bronx and b) having Gerrit Cole comfortably rested to pitch in sudden death."

Well the next game is this afternoon, where Jordan Montgomery looks to stop the Orioles before they do anymore damage, like inflicting injury on our players who just need to stay healthy so they can compete for the pennant against much tougher teams like the Rays, and Sox. It is not playoff baseball, yet, New York. Don't create the sense of urgency, yet and particularly not against the Os. Let's Go!
