LUKE VOIT IS ANNOYED WITH RIZZO TRADE

Obvious headline, obvious feelings coming from Luke Voit. And you know what? That's the business. It's not always fair.  One thing I do know is that Voit was hurt when the trade happened so it's not like he was out there playing first and they called him to come in and put Rizzo out there in his place in front of his teammates and the fans. The dude was on the IL. The Yankees needed to make a move and made it. And you know what else? Rizzo has been a monster. Sure, he has COVID now, but before that, the dude was raking for NY. Voit should be more of a team guy instead of acting like the victim.

The Daily Aficionado writes that while he said he was happy to have Rizzo on the team,

"Voit wasn’t believable, claiming he was happy that his GM was traded in for a star first baseman just when he was finally well and about to return. Voit eventually admitted that the Rizzo trade was “frustrating”. He also admitted he’ll be playing for “29 other teams” who may want him next season as he “plays his heart out” to try to help the Yankees in every role for the remainder of this season he’s thrown into … “whether that’s” on the bench or play first or DH-ing or whatever. "

Now it looks like he'll get an opportunity to help the team with Rizzo on the shelf.

MLB Trade Rumors writes:

" The Yankees have activated Luke Voit and placed Anthony Rizzo on the COVID-IL. Manager Aaron Boone says Rizzo has tested positive, per Lindsey Adler of The Athletic. He also is exhibiting some symptoms. As a positive test, he will be quarantined for at least 10 days...

Since being acquired in a deal just before the deadline, Rizzo has had an excellent debut as a Yankee. In nine games, he’s slashed .281/.400/.563, for a wRC+ of 163."

Let's see what Voit can do. I like the guy, I know he's capable, but injury has killed this guy, and in essence killed the Yankees... he has to understand this.
