"SPRING" TRAINING TO RESTART IN NYC!

Through this whole pandemic the voice of reason has come from Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York.  And when it comes to baseball, the Governor is hoping to get the game going again, just like he kicked off the first organized sports event since COVID-19, with The 152nd running of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday.  Cuomo is calling for "spring" training in NYC, because why not?

"I think New York now is especially attractive, compared to the other states, because we have such a low transmission rate, and this is a state that is ready, willing and able to partner with sports teams so that they can play," he said, The Associated Press reported."

This is some positivity in at a time when it seems like there is just so much chaos.  Owners and players continue to debate on money, while fans just want some respite in a time of so much uncertainty.

"A new report this week warned that Florida "has all the makings" to be the "next large epicenter" of the coronavirus pandemic. Florida has had consecutive record-breaking jumps in cases this week, including more than 4,000 new cases on Saturday," reported CBS.com. Meanwhile New York and the TriState area are seeing massive declines in cases given their social distancing protocols. 

This week we saw many players and coaches who had resumed training at their facilities in Florida and Arizona come down with cases of COVID-19.  And with the season in peril, due to health and wealth concerns, we are looking for the diamond in the rough so to speak. 

While we wait for some resolution, let the Yankees and Mets train at home, get ready and hope for the best.  Let's hope this is the start of good things to  come and that we can see baseball next month.
