THE YANKS ARE HOT. BETANCES? NOT SO MUCH

The Yankees beat the Angels 8-0 yesterday.  That's the good news.  The bad news? Dellin Betances is gonzo. Hurt. Injured. Done.

CBS Sports writes:

"'Just sad,' Luis Severino, who returned from his own season-long shoulder injury Tuesday night, said after the game when asked about Betances' injury.

'We've been working together since spring training. He's been working hard to get back here. He was so happy in Toronto when he pitched that game. It's hard.'

Betances returned to the Yankees this past weekend and made his season debut Sunday against the Blue Jays. He struck out both batters he faced, and, following the second strikeout, he hopped off the mound, which is something he's been doing pretty much his entire career. Manager Aaron Boone said the hop caused the injury."

Don't look for Betances to return any time soon.  It's a blow to the Yankees, but much like all they've done this season, they will survive... because they're fighters.

Get well soon, Dellin!

  1. This is a blow , I love Dellin Betances. He is treated a lot like Bernie Williams .He doesn't cause any problems just goes out and does his job.He had that one regular season blip and Girardi quit using him and Goose said the best way to fix him was keep using him. They didn't listen and paid for it.
Betances is a tall pitcher who needs to repeat his delivery and when you don't use him makes it hard.
Cashman I am telling you , you need to give him a contract better than Britton and Ottavino, forget this season reward him .He loves being a Yankee if you don't Boston will be after him in a heart beat.
No relief pitcher in the MLB has had the results like him.He does it year in and year out not just every other year or 1 great year.
He deserves a 3 year contract with a vesting option of a 4th year.
Hal and Cash get the job done.

  2. Not a Betances subject but I just saw Scott Alfred was released as AAA pitching coach.
You know the guy that fixed Chad Green when Larry Rothschild couldn't. Holder got better before hurting his shoulder, All of these young guys who excelled at AAA this year . I think this is a bad move, if anything Alfred should replace Rothschild .
What's up with Rothschild , he has done nothing as Yankees pitching coach . We keep bringing him back.
