THAT MEETING WITH MACHADO IS HAPPENING

And in it, I'm sure a few things will come up as the Yankees shake hands with Manny Machado. In fact, I'm sure Cashman is going to say these things to Mr. Machado...

Are you really that lazy?

Are you really that immature?

Are you insane thinking we're going to pay you $300 million?

A lot needs to change if we were ever make you an offer. You better think long and hard about this.

I hate everything about Manny Machado possibly coming to the Yankees, but the main reason is we need a solid starting pitcher first.

Pete Caldera had this great piece about this upcoming meeting and possible marriage between the team and Manny...

"...here are the Yankees, essentially telling Machado that if he so desperately wants to be in pinstripes, he’ll be handsomely paid – but not in a record-breaking way.

Levine’s comments last week about the Yankees’ long-awaited reset under the luxury tax came just hours before a report that the Washington Nationals had outbid the Yankees – by one year and $40 million – for the services of lefty starter Patrick Corbin.

Levine essentially said he wasn’t concerned about what other clubs, like the ready-to-spend-lavishly Philadelphia Phillies were prepared to do this winter. And anyway, if general manager Brian Cashman and his baseball operations staff recommended a big-ticket signing, managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner wouldn’t hesitate to write the check.

These are still the Yankees, who made the surprise push for Giancarlo Stanton last year and absorbed $265 million of his contract.

Now, they’ve got Machado somewhat on the defensive, wanting him to account for his comments in The Athletic to Ken Rosenthal about his ideas on selective hustle, not to mention his questionable sportsmanship."

Look, it's a dumb signing, that's the bottom line. Sure, if the Yankees nail it down it will fun for the moment... seeing Machado in pinstripes, but long term, this contract will suck.  Plus... again... WE NEED A SOLID STARTING PITCHER... and that should be the priority.

We just have to wait and see what happens.... but I hate this... I'm stating it for the record.
