Or something....maybe. I'm not sure what the best word to use here is but he almost sounded annoyed.
Clint Frazier suffered a concussion last month and has been sidelined ever since. Recently it was reported that he was feeling better and he increased his workload and hit more. It sounded like the start of a good comeback but now all of the sudden.....he has forgotten his cats names and cannot safely drive a car.
No, I am not exaggerating. It sounds out there. Actually, way out there but it is true according to the New York Post HERE. That sounds pretty scary to me and it sounds like he isn't progressing at all but doctors say he is. I don't get it. When you forget your pets names and cannot safely drive a car it sounds bad but doctors say it sounds worse than it really is and he is getting better, somehow.
So Frazier went on to speak to the press where he said "this has to be the worst injury I’ve ever had. I didn’t feel right today hitting. I felt foggy, that is the word of the day." The worst injury he's ever had in a very young career where he is trapped and blocked by a line of other outfielders. I've had a concussion once before and it sucked. I feel his frustration, as well as fans and other players but once person who also feels Frazier's frustration is also sharing his own.
Cashman quickly pointed out that other leagues have protocol when it comes to players going through concussion protocol "the only thing I would say is maybe it’s best not to be interviewed on a daily basis when he comes out of his endurance stuff." Ouch. It's just an example of how some say he has made improvements to his game, but he needs more work on his....communication skills. That's the best way I can put it but there are some more examples of this HERE.
Look, I like the kid's confidence. So does Aaron Boone, and he's young. He's eager and he is trying hard to push someone out of his way and into a starting job. I think anyone would be pushing as hard as he is. So he is a little rough around the edges, but hopefully Cashman can see past that. This situation can't be easy for anyone.
Hey, if Cashman is annoyed he surely can't be the only one. Frazier has been working his butt off to get back in Yankee stadium. He got a taste of it last season and he wants more of it. Not only is he blocked now by a long line of outfielders, but now his concussion is also keeping him out of action. If anyone can tell us about frustration right now its Frazier. I think he's an expert at this point.
Hang in there, kid. Things have a way of working themselves out.
