Carlos Beltran after interviewing today for the NYY manager's post: "I never thought this moment was going to come this soon after retirement (as a player). I’m excited...and happy for the opportunity that the Yankees are considering me as a candidate.''— Pete Caldera (@pcaldera) November 29, 2017
And then there's this, which I LOVE. It comes from our big lug, CC Sabathia describing Beltran and his potential role as manager:
CC Sabathia today, talking about Carlos Beltran: 'His baseball IQ is off the charts. He’s got a great personality, he can get along with the guys...We have to wait and see how it shakes out here, but at some point he’s going to be a good manager for somebody.''— Pete Caldera (@pcaldera) November 28, 2017
Now look, I was never a big Beltran guy, but I know for a fact that CC is right... the guys love Carlos and when he finally came to the Yankees, his personality, probably because he was at veteran status, started to shine and all I've heard is about how well liked he is.
With liking someone comes respect, and maybe that would mean the younger guys would play hard for CB. No idea, but that's how I feel about it.
Anyway, if you wanna read Caldera's Bergen Record piece, go HERE.
In the meantime, we wait and see what happens next.
