If we don't make the playoffs with the youth we have this year, it will be crushing. But hey... no one expected us to be good this year after our slow start, and so, we won't get too crazy. But can you imagine if we could pull it off? I mean, just to make it to the playoffs with all the turmoil this season would be my World Series. Then we can look ahead to 2017.
Gary Sanchez is an animal. He's unbelievable. 2 more home runs tonight... 5 RBIs. 19 homers so far this season and he's only been to a major league plate 162 times. That's the most ever in history for a kid his age (23). But it's not just youth that did damage tonight.
Brian McCann, who feels absolutely zero pressure because of Sanchez in the spotlight, went 4-5 tonight and he's literally promoting Sanchez in the post game show! Mac is just giving kind compliments about just how special Gary is. I have tremendous respect for McCann. He is a class act and I love that he's not a selfish player.
And how about this; Donovan Solano had 3 hits tonight with a double and home run. Think about it... a few days ago, Solano was with the RailRiders. The Railriders won a championship last night without the kid. Today though, after congratulating his former AAA teammates he came up big in the majors. I guess God felt bad for him missing out and gave him the night of his life. Whatever it is... it's something special all around.
Right now the Yankees in the Wild Card race look like this:
Long shot? Sure.
Hope? Yes... absolutely.
Final: Yankees 11 - Rays 5
Go Yanks!
