MARK TEIXEIRA SIGNING OFF
All reports indicate that Mark Teixeira will retire at the end of the 2016 season. I found it unusually strange that the YES Network sent an email to many in the press, BYB including this morninng letting us know that YES will be holding a Tex press conference at 3pm today on YES, and so I did my normal digging.
Many that I spoke to are either speculating or "know" that this announcement on YES later today will suggest that Mark will announce that he will walk away from the game after the 2016 season... ending his baseball career, and Yankee career.
Now you know us here at BYB. We are split on Tex. Many are fed up with the injuries and often wonder just how great he could have been if healthy for an extended period of time. Others on our staff love the guy and appreciates him here.
In the end, he had 1 very memorable playoff run for the Yankees in 2009. Other than that, I was never overly impressed, although, I always loved the man's defense. But now, it would appear that age, and maybe injury and reality caught up with Mark.
Tex is retiring today, and will pass the torch to Greg Bird. Amazing... things are changing.
YES Network will have the press conference at 3pm today. We will be watching too.
