TRADES ARE BREWING MY FRIENDS

Yes, you've heard that the Yankees = Mediocrity, at least in 2016.  That's nothing new.  Even though we beat the first place Baltimore Orioles here and there, we aren't going anywhere fast.  So, despite dissension in the upper management cove, word on the street is that moves will happen.  This one is seemingly picking up some steam as well.  "According to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, the Rangers are scouting several Yankees players in advance of the trade deadline, including Ivan Nova, Nathan Eovaldi, and even CC Sabathia."  Send all the pitchers away! Great idea!

And it doesn't stop there.  "According to ESPN's Keith Law, the Yankees had two scouts on hand to see left-hander and top Indians pitching prospect Justus Sheffield pitch Tuesday afternoon. He struck out eight in 6 2/3 scoreless innings (box score). Cleveland is said to have interest in Andrew Miller, so it makes sense that the Yankees would be scouting their High Class-A affiliate. The Indians have many top prospects there even aside from Sheffield."

Am I upset?  Yes.  I don't want to be in this position.  I feel like Luke in the Empire Strikes Back and the big black bird from Baltimore is breathing heavy and saying, "Luke, I am your father...noooooooo."

There's more..."The Marlins are working to add a starting pitcher before the deadline, reports MLB.com's Jon Morosi. Among their targets are Phillies righty Jeremy Hellickson, Padres righty Andrew Cashner, and Yankees righty Michael Pineda. Hellickson and Cashner are rentals while Pineda would remain under team control as an arbitration-eligible player in 2017."

Trades are brewing.  Just waiting for the green light and these Bronx Bombers and maybe more will be heading to airports near you.  For some, their bags are already packed, and not for the next road game.  They are off to the dark side and there's no coming back.

  1. The silver lining - it is always darkest before the dawn. Also, Millennium Falcon came back for Luke.
