WOULD THE YANKEES BRING IN JAMES LONEY?

Look, it's clear that with Greg Bird recovering after surgery, and Mark Teixeira accident prone at first base, with the news of 1st baseman James Loney released by the Rays yesterday,  it crossed my mind that the Yankees might try to bring the guy in to back up Tex.  Could I be wrong? Hey... who the hell knows...

According to Yahoo Sports, "Rays have released James Loney, the team's regular first baseman the past three years.

The club announced the move Sunday, hours before starting the season against the Toronto Blue Jays. He had been told last week that he would not be on the opening day roster. He has a guaranteed $8 million salary.

Loney batted .280 with four homers and 32 RBIs in 104 games in 2015. In three seasons with Tampa Bay, he hit .291 with 26 homers and 176 RBIs in 414 games."

Now you're looking at the numbers and the guy's 31 and you're thinking I'm being silly.  All I'm doing is getting inside the head of Brian Cashman.  He's a guy that is looking for a few cheap deals, a flash in the pan, lightning in the bottle and still has alittle pop in his bat.  While the idea seems crazy... that's exactly how the Yankees operate some times. This falls in their wheel house.

Food for thought. Trust me, I'm not losing sleep over whether or not the Yankees were to make this move... I just thought that maybe... just maybe these types of things happen in Yankeeland... that's all.

Carry on.
