Another great story about women getting gigs in Major League baseball. This job has to do with being a Scout. Pretty damn cool if you ask me.
According to several sources, but we'll choose YESNetwork.com for this report:
"The Seattle Mariners have hired 22-year-old Amanda Hopkins, a former softball captain at Central Washington University, to be a full-time amateur scout for the big league club.
Hopkins will be the first female scout for an MLB team in more than
half a century, when the Phillies hired Edith Houghton to help seek out
new talent for the team in 1946."

Great nugget by AJ Herrmann of YESNetwork.com for the Edith Houghton info. I never knew that! That's why I love baseball history...you learn something new every day.
Anyway, this Hopkins hiring from the Mariners comes off the heels of the Athletics hiring Justine Siegal as a coach just a few months ago. You remember BYB's piece titled OAKLAND A'S HIRES FIRST FEMALE COACH. HOLLA, right? You should check it out, it's interesting.
Gotta love girl power!
Nice story. Congrats to Amanda Hopkins!
