There have been plenty of trade rumors surrounding Andrew Miller lately. It's been said that he is on the radar for both the Astros and the Dodgers. With the Astros getting Ken Giles, it seems unlikely they are still interested. At least for the moment, Brian Cashman is simply interested in seeing what he could get if the opportunity for a trade did come along. One thing is certain, Miller wants to remain a Yankee.
"It is what it is. We always have curiosity about it. You're intrigued by it, but I like playing for the Yankees. That's where I hope I'm at."
Miller told MLB that he was comfortable on the East coast, and especially enjoyed having spring training close by to his home.
This past season saw Miller go for 36 saves in, 38 opportunity with. a 2.04 ERA. The tandem team of Dellin Betances and Miller really was incredible to watch this season.
I personally like Miller. I think he has been an incredible addition to the team. It makes sense though that Cashman would use his biggest asset as bait. We've seen it with the rumors surrounding Brett Gardner as well. Throw out some names, and see who bites. If the offer is good enough, maybe there will be a deal involved. But Miller is a huge asset, so whatever other teams are willing to deal will have to be pretty fantastic to get Cashman to reel them in.
Ideally, for Miller and fans like myself, this is nothing more than rumors. I'd like to see Miller back in pinstripes. I think Betances is capable of becoming our closer, but I do enjoy the set-up man/closer rhythm they've worked out.
