CASHMAN: "OUR TEAM IS FAIRLY SET"

I know, not what you wanted to read.  But how ironic is it that BYB wrote pretty much what Brian Cashman said today on the Michael Kay show.  In my piece, WE'RE A GROUP OF COMPLAINERS, AREN'T WE?, I said "The Yankees are regrouping.  You can be angry all you want, but they are being very, very strategic about it.  You're mad.  So am I..."

Today Cashman said alot of stuff.  Here's some portions from the Michael Kay show.  Nothing surprising here, but check it out:

"I think right now our pretty aggressive focus has been mostly in the trade conversations... (There have been no moves since Hicks) because so far nothing has gotten to our liking enough.

“Our team is fairly set... and now it’s, are there ways to improve upon what’s already in place?”

Would Cashman trade Miller and Gardy? Good question:

“I think they’re both valued members of this franchise… But I think we have to be open-minded to any possibility. It doesn’t hurt to listen. It doesn’t hurt to talk. It doesn’t hurt to have aggressive conversations. The only thing that would hurt would be if we made a bad move."

And this is one of my favorites.  Speaking of Steinbrenner and comparing these days to the Steinbrenner years:

"I think we’re just operating in a different environment… It’s a completely different arena than The Boss operated in.... We’ve spent more than when The Boss was running the show... The competitive balance has been successfully created by that entire process.”

And it's eerie. In that piece above, I wrote:

"The balancing act is tricky, but keeping youth and be strategic to pick up the players that can help us will be the new game plan."

I'm no mind reader, It's obvious what the Yankees are doing.  Now however, we've heard it from Cashman officially.

We ain't getting nuttin' for Christmas ladies and gentlemen.  Aaron Hicks was it.  And hey, he'll be exciting to watch.

Merry Christmas.
