The whole Yankee losing and not clinching thing is incredibly frustrating. They need to lock it up! Much like Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson's dialog in Wedding Crashers, you have your bros, and they have their mission... to seal the damn deal! There's incredible frustration among Yankee fans, and not only that, you need to almost laugh at times... it's utterly ridiculous that we can't beat the Boston Red Sox.
John Beckwith:
You better lock it up.
Jeremy Grey: No, you lock it up!
John Beckwith: You lock it up!
Jeremy Grey: You lock it up!
John Beckwith: You lock it up!
Jeremy Grey: Lock it up!
It's annoying, it's frustrating and it's ridiculous as hell. You wanna recap? Here it is, Michael Pineda didn't show up last night, neither did the Yankee offense. The end.
Sure, there were teasers. We got alittle excited when things went our way... but in the end, we lose the game and we're icing our balls and coughing up blood and fans throw their hands up in frustration again and you know what? We should. We suck.
When is it going to happen? When the hell are we gonna Lock it up? Bottom line, we wanna be the "Motorboating Son of a Bitch", not the one who didn't seal the deal. It's literally that simple.
The Yankees are an incredible franchise. We have had amazing moments and amazing comebacks all season. But there is something to be said about a team that can't lock it up when it's really important. Sure... we have time, but that's not what the fans are thinking about. Every fan is thinking about how we DIDN'T make the post season for 2 years in a row. Will we make it 3? If so, Joe's gotta go.
We don't want to crawl into the playoffs. We want to go into it as aggressive lions, ready to conquer anything! We need to lock this up. WE NEED TO SEAL THE DEAL NOW!
A few stats I want to throw at you. The Yankees score 4 runs to the Sox 10. We had only 7 hits. We were 3 for 8 with runners in scoring position. We don't have a single player in our lineup batting .300. Think about that for a second.
Our pitching is not consistent. We have injury and we are now going to ask a guy in Masahiro Tanaka, who's been on the DL twice this year to try and pitch us into our 10,000 franchise win and a clinch... something we've been waiting for for 2 days.
I said this the other day and I'll repeat; While every other team is clinching and excited about the post season, I am going to suggest something bold. The Yankees need to win this game tonight, shake hands, hit the showers, shut the lights off in the Bronx, go home and get a good, hard cry in. No champagne. No celebration. Go home and cry it out. That's because the Yankees are not playing like champions. Their wins near the end of this season are luck. They need to cry hard, reflect and wonder why they deserve to be in the post season. This is assuming we even get there. It's downright pathetic.
No true recap after this game. You know where I stand. If the Yankees don't Lock it up A.S.A.M.F.P, they don't get into the post season, and if they do, they don't have a chance in hell. That's because they aren't playing like champions. The New York Yankees are going through the motions and they'll end up not going very far.
I am not giving up on my team. I am demostrating the reality of the situation here. No one is a bigger fan than I. This is passion now spilling on the pages of BYB about my team. The Yankees have let me down. They have let us all down. There are clubs out there that have gelled wonderfully down the stretch... exactly what you're supposed to do right about now. Not us though. We can't get out of our own way. We've lost games because we've beat ourselves night after night.
I'm sorrry... there is zero reason why we can't lock this up. If we don't...well...
