PINEDA & WILLIAMS COMES ALIVE IN YANKEE WIN
You gotta appreciate Michael Pineda airing it all out. When healthy, he could be one of the more dominant starters in baseball. And people forget, the guy is young. If he can continue this way, and have no health issues, no "pine tar on the neck" issues... life will be good in New York.
The Yankees beat the Tigers 4-1 and Pineda pitched 3 scoreless innings.
The big play for me personally was Mason Williams who had a nice liner and legged out a triple. This kid is knocking on the Yankees' door. He wants his shot on the big stage. Here's the question... can the Yankees ever bring this guy up? We have 3 veterans in the outfield. It's clogged. Hey, maybe the plan would be to bring him up mid season to ride the bench and learn from the veterans. Whatever the case, Williams wants some!
With the game knotted at 1, this happened:
"The Yankees pulled ahead in the sixth against Tigers reliever Rafael Dolis. Gregorius, Chase Headley and Stephen Drew began the inning with three straight singles. Mark Teixeira then bounced a potential double-play ball to second base, but Tigers shortstop Dixon Machado's throw sailed past first baseman Jordan Lennerton, allowing two runs to score."
The Yankees are winning... and I like writing that.
Final: Yankees 4 - Tigers 1
