You can never get too crazy about this, but it's being reported tonight by Jon Morosi of FOX Sports that there is some activity in the Yankees camp when it comes to James Shields.
One rival GM said tonight he believes #Yankees are now actively pursuing James Shields.

Now look, with the way the market has gone, it's clear, Shields value has diminished, but that doesn't mean he can't make some decent money. The Yankees historically overpay for players, but I think in this case, the Yanks can present a fair price, and a short amount of years to get a year done. Picking up Shields now makes a lot of sense. Read SHIELDS IN PINSTRIPES MAKES PERFECT SENSE NOW. Look, I suggest 3 years, $13 per. Probably more than you would offer, but I think that's more than fair and we'll still have a pitcher in his prime. Remember Shields is 33 right now. Here was a conversation I had earlier today with some pretty great BYB readers:
In other words, there is no secret analysis from any baseball commentator out there when it comes to James Shields. Even fans know how this works.
Oh yeah, and it's also important to understand that the Cardinals are in on Shields right now as well. That's being reported by Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
While #Dbacks now say they're out of James Shields sweepstakes, you wonder if Shields will fall to the #Stlcards, who have shown interest.
