THE PHILLIES ARE WILLING TO DEAL COLE HAMELS

So after many posts about Cole Hamels and the Phillies NOT willing to trade him, it seems now that they are in fact, willing to trade him.  But there's a catch... the Phillies want prospects.

According to Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com, Hamels is being dangled and that's because Ruben Amaro Jr. wants to restock the farm system.

"Though they are not aggressively looking to trade an ace pitcher, they are listening to any and all offers, and if they get back the big package of potential young game-changers they are seeking, they just might trade Hamels.

'You never say never,' one organization leader said."

Now, here's the question.  If lefty Cole Hamels is available, do you try your best to find 3 prospects in your farm system worth flipping for? Or, do you do what many fans have wanted for years in the Bronx... we let the prospects blossom and eventually we bring them up, with hopes of creating a new "Core Four"?  Alot of questions... I have a theory...

The Yankees are in fact interested in someone like Cole Hamels. But because we've been accused of not having a very solid farm system, the Phillies may pass up a team like the Yankees.  In fact Salisbury suggests "...The Cubs and Red Sox are two known suitors and both have the farm systems to get a deal done — if they are willing to meet the Phillies’ rightfully high asking price..."

Look, I'd love Hamels, but to be honest, there are too many prospects that I would NOT want to part with.  We just saw great things from Greg Bird and Aaron Judge in Arizona, for example.  You know those are 2 guys that the Phillies are gonna want.  Guess what? I don't wanna give them up.   You see what I'm saying?  Sure, Hamels is a nice piece to add to our rotation, but the Phillies are gonna expect "top dollar"... and I don't think I'm going there.

We do need to keep an eye this though.  I mean, if Hamels were to go to the Cubs, I'm fine with that, but I'd rather he not the Red Sox. Could you imagine he and Pablo Sandoval in Beantown?  Oh boy...
