THE UPs & DOWNs OF A YANKEE WIN IN FENWAY
Brett Gardner is the hottest player in baseball right now. David Phelps needs to get his elbow checked...there's inflammation. Those are your ups and downs. The End.
Kidding, but there is alittle concern about David Phelps. I mean, this is a guy that has been asked to fill in for the Yankees this year in the starter department and has done a fantastic job. I kinda hope all is well and he just misses 1 start. No one wants to hear that his elbow is sore. We'll see what happens to him and we'll let you know. In the meantime though... the Yankees won!

Phelps went 2 innings, gave up 6 hits and 5 runs. That's when he was pulled. Chase Whitley followed and gave up 2 more. Then, the combination of Esmil Rogers, Dellin Betances and DRob was truly great, holding down the Sox and giving the Yanks a chance to take the lead, scoring 3 in the 5th and 1 more in the 6th. Just great baseball.
Brett Gardner was 3-4 last night. Carlos Beltran and Stephen Drew were both 2-4. In the 2nd, Drew grounded out knocking in Mark Teixeira in the process. Gardy then doubled knocking in 2.
In the 4th, Drew doubled and Brian McCann scored. In the 5th, Chase Headley doubled, knocking in Beltran. Then Drew came up again, singled and knocked in 2.
In the 6th, and if you can believe it, Brett Gardner homered, his 16th, and that put the Yanks ahead for the win in Beantown.
It was important and it was necessary! The Yankees needed this. In fact, they need to now win every single series against their opponent the rest of the season if they have any shot of the playoffs. I believe they can ladies and gentlemen... I feel good about this team right now.
Let's go Yankees!
Final: Yankees 8 - Red Sox 7
