THE MANIACS

"This reminds me of a little girl from a steel town with a dream to dance. The deck was stacked against Alex. You know how she overcame those odds? By believing in herself and trying. She literally had to become a maniac.... she believed so hard, she spun. Oh and she spun. And she spun and she spun, and she spun herself into that dance school... she spun herself into our hearts."
--Billy McMahon in The Internship.

I love the movie the Internship, because while it's a comedy, it's about inspiration and motivation.  I laughed out loud watching the scene above, but there was a bigger picture in all of it.  You can do anything, if you put your mind to it.  That's what the Yankees did today. With back's against the wall, they dug deep to get a win. There was no spinning, there was run scoring and while it wasn't more than 3, it was enough. Thank god for our pitching today. You know what?  I respect Brandon McCarthy for keeping the Yankees in it today.  I respect the guys that fault the good fight and got the win... maniacs!

McCarthy went the full 9 and only gave up 4 hits and zero runs.  A shut out and you need to tip your cap! McCarthy has been consistently dominant in every start since he showed up in the Bronx.

I like this guy a lot. I know I'm not the only one.

The Yankee runs went like this:

In the 2nd, Chase Headley doubled and knocked in Mark Teixeira and Martin Prado. Then Ichiro sacrificed home Headley.

Those of the Yankee runs... once again, only 3 of them, but thank God for McCarthy. He rested the pen and pitched a gem. You gotta appreciate this guy.  You gotta love this win. The Yankees and McCarthy were maniacs today. Fighting for the win. Believing. Overcoming the odds...  just like that girl from a steel town who had a dream...

Go Yanks!

Final: Yankees 3 - Astros 0

I leave you with this.  If you need alittle inspiration... and a laugh, watch the Internship.
