HOLY CRAP! NOW THOSE ARE MY YANKEES!
The Twitter world was all over the map last night! If you watched the tweets and not the game, there were moments that made it seem like the Yankees were about to blow it. That's because they were... but they fought hard. I think the game was harder on the fans than the Yankees themselves. It was gut-wrenching. Yup... I'll say it... Thank God we won.
At one point the Yankees were up 10-4 and then the wheels started falling off and it was 12-8. We tend to forget that there is usually an opponent on the other side that wants to win too. The Yankee runs were alive and well last night. 12 hits, 12 runs. Boom!
Brandon McCarthy started and ended up getting the win in this one. He's now 6-10. 6 innings pitched, 9 hits and 4 runs allowed. Adam Warren came in and gave up 3 runs and Yankee fans crucified him. Dellin Betances gave up another. Chase Whitley gave up 1 and DRob gave up the final 2 Ranger runs. Then he shut the door and got his 27th save.
We fought hard... we did it ladies and gentlemen and we need it desperately.
The Yankee run scoring went like this:
Brett Gardner led off with a home run. A solo shot and his 13th. Then came a major rally in the 6th... Carlos Beltran hit a single knocking in 2. Brian McCann sacrificed home Mark Teixeira. Zoilo Almonte then singled knocking in Beltran. Brendan Ryan then doubled knocking in 2. After that, Gardy reached on an error and Ryan scored.
In the 7th, Chase Headley singled knocking in Ellsbury. Almonte grounded out and Mark Teixeira scored. Later, Mark Teixeira homered. It was a 2 run shot.
They clawed their way to victory. They did it ladies and gentlemen. Now you have to hope it continues...
Final: Yankees 12 - Rangers 11
