It was a competition. Yankees vs. Cardinals and the game was great. We needed a win, a 3rd win in a row to represent a "streak" and we got it. Thank God. Not to get too far ahead of myself... but what do you say we now get 4 in a row today... anyway, let's talk about yesterday's game first...
Chase Whitley started and Whitley went 5 innings giving up 8 hits and only 3 runs. He looked good. No complaints from me. In fact, the Yanks were forced to give a youngster a shot, and they did with Whitley and he's done everything we could ask for. I'm very happy with this guy. The only other run was given up by DRob, but he did record save number 11. DRob's rolling.
The Yankee runs went like this...
In the first, Jacoby Ellsbury singled home Brett Gardner. In the 5th, Kelly Johnson knocked home Ichiro.
Then Gardy sacrificed home Brian Roberts. It was then in the 12th that the Yankees rallied to finished the Cards
off. Roberts singled home Ellsbury. Alfonso Soriano then sacrficed Brian McCann home. Finally, Brendan Ryan knocked home Ichiro again.
Ichiro worked 2 walks and scored 2
times doing it. He's currently batting .338... you gotta love and
appreciate Ichiro being in our lineup and in our field.
Those are your Yankees, and that's
called momentum. 3 in a row... let's get 4 now.
Final: Yankees 6 - Cardinals 4
