FINALLY MAKING THINGS HAPPEN

It was a good game all around.  Vidal Nuno pitched well and I was thrilled to see it. The Yankees knocked in 4 runs and had 8 hits and while it wasn't an outstanding hitting parade, they were productive hits, and that's the important thing.

Nuno pitched 7 innings, gave up 9 hits and 3 runs.  Believe it or not, he did not get the win.  That was awarded to Dellin Betances.  But Nuno, after giving up 3 runs in the first, he settled down and was dealing.  The Yanks and Sox battled. After the 3 runs given up in the 1st, the Yankees didn't score until the 9th. I hate waiting until the end of the game for them to show up, but they did.  The 3 runs that inning happened like this:

Alfonso Soriano hit a ground rule double in the 9th.  Jacoby Ellsbury scored. Then Yangervis Solarte hit a single knocking in Soriano. Shortly after Brian McCann singled and knocked in Kelly Johnson.

Then, in the 10th, Jacoby Ellsbury hit a solo shot to put the Yanks ahead. As Bryan Hoch of MLB.com writes, "Ellsbury's second home run of the season came off Chicago right-hander Zach Putnam (2-1), who had recorded the first two outs of the 10th before Ellsbury turned on an 84-mph splitter and deposited it into the picnic area just behind the right-field wall."

Then, like clockwork, David Robertson came in and shut down the Sox and gave the Yanks a save. When it works out like it did today, you need to smile. You also have to hope, the Yankees have a rally in them now... I'm thinking 6 in a row... how about you?
