MAD INTEREST IN EDUARDO NUNEZ RIGHT ABOUT NOW

Or at least that's what it appears.

As you all may know, Eduardo Nunez was designated for assignment and the Yankees awarded the final roster spot to a hungry kid named Yangervis Solarte. It was pleasing to the base, but many Nunie fans were disappointed.

It appears now that after the final roster spot was awarded to Solarte, Newsday says "Eduardo Nuñez figured the Yankees had had enough of him, so he asked for his release and got it."  That means the Yankees have 10 days to trade or release him.  The Blue Jays and the Astros are interested in Nunez. It appears that the Cubs could also be interested.  That comes from Newsday suggesting Chicago "may be" in need of infield help.  The Astros will have first crack at him, according to Newsday.

According to Brian Cashman: "I think it's best for right now to give him a fresh start and we'll see where that takes him."

I agree with that. Fresh starts work. Look, as a Yankee fan, how can you dislike Nunie? I certainly don't. The bottom line is he never truly perfecting fielding.  I still like the guy as a hitter and thought that much like Yogi Berra said a year ago, if you gave a guy like Nunez enough at bats, he would develop pretty nicely.

The one knock against Nunez in my mind, and this is only my opinion, is that he always appeared dazed and clueless.  It sounds harsh, it's not.  I know the guy was playing hard out there, but it always appeared that he was in space... maybe that was attributed to the errors or maybe he just didn't have good hands. I know someone will be offended by that. I didn't mean anything by it, it's an observation.

Whatever happens, BYB will have it for you. Plus, Jeana Bellezza will probably yell at everyone for the next 20 days as well.  She just wrote, HELLO... EARTH TO THE YANKEES! Read it, it's great!

Yup... she's always pissed when it comes to the Yankees and young talent.
