I wanted to share this from Laura Posada, our friend, who wrote in People en Espanol for Valentine's Day. But the message is the same every day, and some of these 7 tips for living in harmony with your partner, also work wonderfully with your family as a unit. Love makes the world go 'round and you as a family, you need to never take each other for granted and work together.
Teach your kids, love your partner... laugh, play and work together to solve problems. I love these tips and today, I wanted you to check them out. I'm sorry I missed it in the first place... enjoy the piece HERE, Below is my translation... I hope I handled it well...
- From the outset, it is essential to be committed to the success of the relationship as a couple. For a lasting relationship should look for those who enjoy activities together and always set aside time each week to enjoy together.
- If there are qualities of your partner you do not like , do not waste time trying to change them. The change in a human being is voluntary and no one reacts well under pressure or attacks. By contrast, the natural reaction is for rejection. Pet and want your partner with their strengths and weaknesses. Remember that nobody is perfect and focus on the positive.
- Avoid fights over little things. If something bothers you, use the right to explain to your partner why you're not happy instead of screaming insults. A tender look, some sweet words and a smile are more powerful and effective.
- Do not look to past mistakes, but to future goals you have together. Looking back only creates resentment and frustration while looking to the future creates hope, optimism and makes the flame of love grows.
- The silent treatment is out! Expressing feelings is important, but expect the appropriate time and place to do it. It is imperative that you listen to your partner, and do not interrupt when talking . With interrupts , you can make the mistake of putting words in his or her mouth and also lose the opportunity to know what they are actually thinking.
- Avoid using what I call venomous words and phrases such as "You always " or "You never." These statements immediately cause a negative reaction in your partner. This tends to bring the discussion to exaggerated levels and focus of the initial conversation is lost.
- Find time every day to connect with your partner in an intimate way. There must always be time on the calendar to keep the attraction and love alive. There is no excuse to go weeks without kissing, hugging, romance and lovemaking . The key is to feed this part of the relationship and especially do it with creativity and playfulness.
