A report from the Miami Herald right now states the the Miami Marlins are interested in Phil Hughes.
Barry Jackson writes: "The Marlins often like to pursue players who had one bad year after a
good one, hoping to get them at a reasonable price. So it’s not
surprising they called about Yankees free agent right-hander Phil Hughes,
who went 4-14 with a 5.19 ERA in 2013 after going 16-13 in 2012. The
Marlins are considering adding an inexpensive veteran starting pitcher."
2 things. Number one, it's crazy to think of Phil Hughes as a veteran pitcher, but it just goes to show just how long we've been waiting for this guy to explode in the Bronx. Number two, some people would consider Hughes signing with the Marlins a victory... a bigger one than signing Brian McCann, if you can believe it.
Stay tuned on this rumor... it's interesting, that's for sure. I leave you with this... because I'm a big pop culture freak and it's freezing in NYC...
Enjoy your Sunday.
