JETER SAYS HE IS READY TO PLAY

With a strange and rather lackluster 2013 season for our Captain Derek Jeter, we've all been left to question whether or not he will be back in 2014, ready to tackle the season.  His broken ankle, and re-injury, has left some of us wondering what the fate of our Captain will be. Jeter has the answer.

While attending the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation Gala, Jeter was asked if he would be back (HERE). "Yes. 100 percent. I don't have any reason to think otherwise. Last year when I was commenting on it this time of year, a little later, my ankle was still recovering. Now everything's healed, ready to go, I get a chance to strengthen everything, so I see no reason why not." Jeter has started conditioning training earlier in November.

The Yankees made it clear that they need a plan B, just in case. With the resigning of Brendan Ryan, who is capable of taking over at short stop if the Yankees need him, they are just making sure they are covering al their bases. It's a good plan. While Jeter is sure that he will be back to playing form for 2014, there will be days that he will need either a day off, or need to DH. Having Ryan there to man the position makes that possible.

Jeter is not listening to the critics, or the "what if" questions. Jeter is ready to grind it out next season. He is ready to hustle. And THAT is why he is our Captain. Despite the questions, Jeter is ready to give 100% to the team.
