IT SMELLS LIKE OCTOBER IN THE BRONX

That title was actually my tweet at the moment Alfonso Soriano came up the plate and singled up the middle.  Moments before that you could hear the chant of "Let's Go Yankees" loud and clear in Yankee Stadium.  With Soriano standing up there... it brought me back the year 2000 or something.  Yankee dominance after a continued run of championships years before.  It just felt right.
Tonight was a major win.  The Yankees looked like the Yankees after Chris Sale was finally knocked out of the game.  Look, Chris Sale doesn't look like much out there. But the guy literally has some of the best stuff in baseball.  He's like Max Scherzer... you just don't think he's capable... but he is and he's freaking awesome.  It was almost clear to me that if we could knock out Sale, we had a shot.  We did... and like I tweeted... it smelled like October in the Bronx.

The pitching started with Hiroki Kuroda who needed to pitch well tonight, there is no question about it.  Tonight he went 6.1 innings, gave up 7 hits and 4 runs.  Those 4 runs were enough for the Yankees to come back from. But like I said, Chris Sale was great tonight. Eventually they did!

Once Sale was seen a few times... things started to happen.  It started with Derek Jeter who singled off him in the 8th... then the wheels fell off for the White Sox.  Robinson Cano doubled and Jeet went to third.  then Alfonso Soriano singled and 2 runs scored.  After Alex Rodriguez singled, Curtis Granderson knocked in Soriano. Later, Eduardo Nunez doubled and 2 runs scored.

Then, like clock work... Mariano Rivera came in... 1, 2, 3 and the Yankees won it like we've been winning it for years.  Dominant, confident and raising the bar.  They came out of today's game better than they did going in... raising the bar every step of the way.  That's the Yankees I know... Boo Yah!

Final: Yankees 6 - White Sox 4

Keep it rolling Yanks... we love ya right now!
