"He did all his stuff today, so it was good.''
One could assume anything from reading just that quote. He did all he "stuff". OK then. What's the stuff Joe? Thank goodness for sports journalists... Eric Boland has the story here:
"Jeter ran sprints for a second straight day Wednesday at the Yankees' minor-league complex in Tampa, Fla., and for the first time since his setback March 23, he hit outside. Jeter took 32 swings, although Girardi was most encouraged that the 38-year-old shortstop's surgically repaired left ankle allowed him to run on consecutive days."
Now, in fairness to Girardi, he did go on in Boland's piece basically saying that Jeter didn't back off on his running. Obviously, with a bad ankle, that's a big positive! So, if you add in the May 1st deadline for return, this sounds to me that over the next 15 plus days, it will be a solid rehabilitation and Jeet should be 100% to return by then... or, one could hope.
Look, the Yankees are winning right now. 3 in a row. If you've seen Major League as much as I have, you know 3 in a row is a winning streak. "It has happened before!"
Truth be told, if the Yankees keep gelling as well as they have been, having Jeter back will be gravy. Let's hope all is well and the return is real this time. We need the Captain!
