YANKEE FANS AREN'T STUPID WHEN IT COMES TO EDUARDO NUNEZ

I don't understand what the hell's going on.  Eduardo Nunez has been touted the future shortstop of the New York Yankees. We all remember that right?  There were whiffs of that when he first came up and the media went into a mad frenzy about it. And when we were minutes away from getting Cliff Lee in a trade from Seattle, the Mariners balked because we wouldn't give up Eduardo Nunez, read HERE.  At the time, Cashman didn't want to part with "our future."  We're all on the same page right? I didn't make any of that up.

Then, over a week ago, Yogi Berra, a legend in this great game, made a statement.  He simply said that Eduardo Nunez needed to 500 at bats and the Yankees needed to find out "how to do it." Read YOGI HAS SPOKEN BUT WILL THE YANKEES LISTEN?  for context on that. Oh, the Yankees listened, but then Brian Cashman made a public dress down of the legend stating "I've had a lot of people say, you've got to get 500 at bats for this guy... as if he's some sort of offensive juggernaut." (Read HERE) Well, the truth of the matter is Cash, "a lot of people" didn't just make that up.  It started from the Yankees organization. It started from you.

I know Cashman is a liar, but that's what I like about him... he never shows his hand. What I don't like is when he forgets that Yankee fans hang on their every word and we don't forget, EVER.  Truth be told, people don't care for Nunez defensively, that's a fact. That's why I suggest last year we needed to move and train him as a left fielder and it would give us a 4th outfielder and give Nunie at bats.  Read WHY NOT MAKE NUNEZ AN OUTFIELDER?  from April 2012. Nunez is quick and he's got a steady bat and the simple point is, if you give him enough at bats, you'd be pleasantly surprised.  That's what Yogi's saying, that's what the fans are saying... hell that's what you guys TOLD US when you were holding Nunez on a pedestal back when we didn't trade him to Seattle.  Bottom line, you made this up, don't pin it on Yogi. Reading your quote in the New York Post the other day, it seemed borderline... like you were accusing Berra as being senile or something. It seems slimy, I'm not gonna lie.

Look, I believe in the underdog, so I'm say something mean and I am not sure if I mean it.  Nunez will never be a superstar.  I hope he does become one though.  But that only happens if he plays.  If that means he only bats 200 times this season because that's all the room you have for him, so be it, but you got to give the guy at bats to see what he's worth. That's just simple thinking.  If you can give him 300 or 500.. that's awesome.  All we the fans want is to be crystal clear that this guy has potential, and you Cashman, for sitting there and now spinning the story like we're crazy, well that's wrong. This story about Nunez and his "potential" started with Yankee brass, not us and not the great Yogi Berra.

Look Cash, the choice is simple... you made it clear back in 2010 that Nunez is our future. Then use him.  You made it clear that Nunez had a good bat, yet, now he's "not a great offensive player."  I love you buddy, but, I'm sticking with Yogi on this one. Give the kid a chance, or this story about a "future star" in Eduardo Nunez was all fabricated by you.  Don't believe me? Google it, Yankee fans aren't stupid.
